Barcelona defeated Sevilla 3-0 at the Camp Nou Stadium on Sunday, securing their second consecutive victory in La Liga. The match was marked by a dominant display from Lionel Messi, who scored twice and provided two assists for his team.
Messi started the scoring spree with a powerful header off a corner kick in the first half. He followed up with another goal in the 54th minute, converting a free-kick after Sevilla had managed to break down the Barcelona defense. His third strike came in the 72nd minute, when he took advantage of a mistake by Sevilla goalkeeper Alvaro Perrone and slotted it into the net.
In addition to Messi, Barcelona also benefitted from the efforts of Sergi Roberto and Antoine Griezmann, both of whom assisted goals. Roberto's assist came in the 66th minute, while Griezmann's strike in the 88th minute was his fifth goal of the season and sealed the win for the Catalan giants.
Sevilla, meanwhile, struggled to create much of an attacking threat against the dominant Barcelona defense. They were unable to find the back of the net despite several opportunities, including a shot by Álvaro Morata that was blocked by Sergio Busquets.
The result leaves Barcelona with a record of 11 wins and 2 draws in their last 13 league matches, which is the best run in La Liga since 2019. It also moves them up to second place in the table, one point behind leaders Real Madrid.
The win over Sevilla comes as Barcelona continues to build momentum ahead of the Copa del Rey final against Atletico Madrid on Tuesday. If they can repeat their performance against Sevilla, they will have a strong chance of winning the competition and cementing their position as one of Europe's top clubs.
